HCU President Dr. Kirk Brothers to Retire; Plans to Join Faculty

Florence, AL — Heritage Christian University announces that President Kirk Brothers will transition from his role at the conclusion of the 2026 academic year, following eight years of dedicated leadership. President Brothers plans to remain with the university as a faculty member, continuing his service to the institution in a new capacity.

Since taking office in 2018, President Brothers has led HCU through periods of significant growth. Under his guidance, the university has expanded its academic offerings, increased student enrollment, invested in campus development, and gained additional accreditation for its graduate programs.

“My feelings about the mission of HCU have only grown stronger during my tenure as president,” said Dr. Brothers. “I was attracted to Heritage because of the amazing faculty, HCU’s focus on training ministers for the Lord’s church, and because we could graduate students with little debt. I love and believe in what Heritage is doing even more now than I did when I accepted the job as president. We have so many wonderful opportunities on the academic side of HCU, and I am excited to be part of them.”

President Brothers’ last day in office will be May 31, 2026. The HCU Board of Directors has begun the presidential search process. More details will be released as they are available.
