FLORENCE, AL— Officials with Faulkner University and Heritage Christian University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will benefit graduates seeking to complete their Ph.D. in Biblical Studies.

The agreement would allow Heritage alumni who graduated with a master’s degree to pursue a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies at Faulkner.  If accepted for admission, they will be eligible for a scholarship to aid with the cost.

“The whole spirit of this goes back to our founders and our forefathers,” said Mike Williams, President of Faulkner University. “Both of our institutions wanted to prepare people to go into ministry and be prepared in the text and to really make a powerful impact on the kingdom so today hopefully is mission attainment of what they wanted from us from the beginning.”

Heritage Christian University is a private bible college in Florence, Alabama with a mission to advance churches of Christ by equipping servants through undergraduate and graduate programs and continuing education.

“Having these kinds of bridges where folks of all ages can train in multiple disciplines and multiple areas so they can be better tools in God’s tool chest is an amazing blessing for the kingdom,” said W. Kirk Brothers, President of Heritage Christian University. “At the end of the day while we might have students that make decisions on whether or not they go to our different schools, at the end of the day we’re all on the same team and the same cause. We want God to be glorified and his cause to be advanced. I think the more bridges we have and the more we work together, the better.”

Faulkner’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dale Kirkland, who also serves on the board of HCU and Judge Carole Medley, who serves on both boards as well, were in attendance to participate in the signing.
