FLORENCE, AL—Heritage Christian University is pleased to report another record-breaking enrollment for the Fall 2022 semester. This continues the eighth consecutive semester with increased enrollment and a 9% growth from the Fall 2021 semester. More notably, enrollment this semester is up a phenomenal 72% since Fall 2016. This semester also marks the highest enrollment of graduate students in the 54-year history of the university.

HCU President Kirk Brothers shares his excitement for this year’s enrollment. “God is doing incredible things at Heritage Christian University,” said Brothers. “We have 61 graduate students, which is the most in school history, and the number of enrolled students is the most we have had since the fall of 2002. We are indebted to the Student Services and Admissions Departments for their amazing work in this process. To God be the glory!”

Since 2001, the number of distance learning students has steadily increased and now makes up 79% of all credit students. Since the Fall 2019 semester, distance learning students have increased by 69%. HCU Director of Distance Learning Autumn Richardson discusses why many students prefer the distance learning option. “Many students choose distance learning because it is a flexible, affordable option that does not require them to put their lives on hold or leave their current ministry jobs. The great thing about an HCU education is being able to instantly apply what you learn in the classroom to your ministry without waiting until you graduate.”

Among the number of undergraduate students is freshman Zaquan Kemp, who lives on campus in Kerr Hall. “The main reason I chose HCU was how it felt like a family,” said Kemp. “It is such a loving, caring environment.” Graduate student Lori Boyd expresses the same sentiment, “From the moment I became part of the Heritage community, it has felt like family. The faculty and staff truly care for their students. They invest in them, communicate with them, and they want to see each student succeed.”

Since 1968, Heritage Christian University has offered affordable and effective degrees in biblical studies, allowing graduates to thrive in their ministries without the burden of student loan debt. HCU offers the following degrees: Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, Master of Arts, Master of Ministry, and Master of Divinity.
