The Heritage Christian University (HCU) Board of Directors announces Dr. Michael D. Jackson, from Muscle Shoals, AL, as the university’s fifth president.
Dr. Jackson has been the Associate Director of Accreditation at the Association for Biblical Higher Education since 2022. Previously, he worked at Heritage Christian University from 2007 to 2022, including serving as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. He has over 20 years of local church ministry experience and currently serves as an elder at Highland Park Church of Christ in Muscle Shoals, AL.
He holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Union University (2017), an M.A. in New Testament from Freed–Hardeman University (2007), and a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Heritage Christian University (2004).
Following a comprehensive national search, the Board selected Dr. Jackson to lead the university into its next chapter. He brings over 20 years of experience in Christian higher education and a clear vision aligned with HCU’s mission of advancing the Churches of Christ by equipping servants for real-world ministry.
“After a thoughtful and prayerful search, the Board is unanimous in our confidence that President-elect Jackson is uniquely equipped to lead our institution forward,” stated Alan Laguna, Chair of the HCU Board of Directors. “He understands our mission, values the heritage that has defined HCU, and has the leadership experience to guide us with wisdom and faith. We are grateful to God for His faithful guidance throughout this search.”
Dr. Jackson’s first recollection of HCU was in the 1990’s, when an HCU team came to his hometown of Winfield, and he joined in their door-knocking campaign. “I’m grateful to the Board of Directors for their trust, and I’m deeply thankful for God’s work through Heritage Christian University,” said Jackson. “I look forward to being a steward of the HCU mission with humility, faith, and purpose. I’m grateful for President W. Kirk Brothers’ faithful leadership and service to HCU, and I look forward to our future as we seek to advance the church in this generation.”
Additional opportunities to engage with Dr. Jackson will be shared in the coming weeks.
