Jack P. Lewis Lectures

HCU Graduate Studies will host the 2015 Jack P. Lewis Lectures at Overton Memorial Library on October 6, 2015. Dr. Mark Sneed will deliver two lectures titled, “Ecclesiastes: Odd Book In” and “Animal Theology in the Book of Job.” These lectures will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

 
Dr. Sneed is a Professor of Bible at Lubbock Christian University. Currently, he is working on a book about Ecclesiastes titled, The Politics of Pessimism: Qohelet in Social Scientific Perspective. He is adept in social science, postmodern approaches to the Hebrew Bible and in the wisdom literatures (Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes). Dr. Sneed is also a frequent at the Society of Biblical Literature national conference and has been published in numerous international, prestigious journals and anthologies. Over the years, he has served regularly as referee and respondent to papers for the national conference, presided over sessions, and led as an officer for the association. His first full-time job was in Kosciusko, Mississippi, where he taught at Magnolia Bible College for six years and since then, he has worked with various universities and churches across the nation.
