What is TITUS Camp?
TITUS Camp (Teens In Training for Useful Service) began in 2005 on the campus of Heritage Christian University. It exists for the purpose of training young people to be better equipped for Christian service. Every young person is put into a spiritually enriched environment where they are given the tools and training they need to better serve our Creator. They are given a topic to research and encouraged to prepare a lesson to be delivered on the final day of camp. Several local churches sponsor these young people and allow them to use their talents before graduation.
Who Can Go to TITUS Camp?
We only have enough room for forty young men (Timothy Campers) and thirty young women (Tabitha Campers). You must be between the ages of 13-19 years and interested in developing your talents. We prefer to have baptized believers but it is not absolutely necessary for proper training. It doesn’t matter if you have had prior training, preaching experience, or leadership skills, we will take any young person that wants the opportunity to serve the Lord in ministry.
Why Should I Go to TITUS Camp?
You will grow spiritually, strengthen your ministry skills, and be equipped for Christian service. This camp is unlike other camps that just train young people in that we will find local churches where you can serve! We want you to use your talents immediately!
How Much Does it Cost?
We only require a $25 non-refundable application fee as a deposit for all campers. This fee must be sent with your application for your spot to be reserved. The average cost per camper is around $150 to $175 per camper. However, the staff, counselors, and directors have taken it upon themselves to raise the support. Some students are sponsored by their home congregations and donations are sent ahead to HCU for each student.
What Classes Will I Be Attending?
All students will be attending Bible classes and training classes. They will receive training in Homiletics, library research, and lesson preparation. We will also emphasize personal evangelism, spiritual maturity, spiritual leadership, counseling, and youth ministry. Every morning we begin with Manna in the Morning, a devotional to get you started, and we end each evening with POWER HOUR, an exciting devotional with an inspirational message!
What Should I Bring?
We encourage all campers to bring a Bible, pillow, air mattress, sheets or sleeping bag, and dress clothes. The campers (boys and girls) follow a casual dress code that requires them to wear khakis and collared shirts in all classes and when teaching/preaching. Each evening and during our activities, campers may wear knee-length shorts, jeans, collared shirts, etc. We also expect each young person to bring a good attitude! We will be taking a few trips off campus for various activities (baseball field, hike to Mars Hill, Summer Youth Series, etc.), therefore, you may want to bring spending cash.
How Can I Reserve My Place?
If you are interested in being a part of TITUS camp this year, fill out an application and mail it in before the deadline (July 1) along with your $25 application fee!
We will only be able to take the first 40 male and 30 female applicants into camp. So make sure to reserve your spot at camp as quickly as possible because you don’t want to miss it! The applications will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
