HCU Scholarship Application

HCU is pleased to offer a variety of in-house scholarships to qualifying applicants. It is recommended that all applicants complete the Scholarship Application Form each semester for consideration. The HCU Scholarship Committee meets in early July for fall semester scholarship awarding and mid December for spring semester scholarship awarding. Applicants must submit the scholarship application by the following deadlines: Fall semester deadline is June 15 and Spring semester deadline is November 8.

College Readiness Test Scores

HCU requires applicants under the age of 31 to submit College Readiness Test scores such as the ACT (HCU Code-5116) or SAT (HCU Code-0805). Official test scores must be at least 18 on the ACT or 900 on the SAT. Scores must be sent to HCU directly from the testing agency. Test scores on high school transcripts will be accepted as official. Scores must be received by the appropriate application and/or scholarship deadline. Students who have not taken a College Readiness Test should plan to test at least six weeks prior to the deadline to allow sufficient time for scores to be sent to HCU.

Official Transcript Submission

Applicants must submit official high school transcripts or equivalent, and all official transcripts from every college, university, military academic institution, seminary, or divinity school previously attended, even if the enrollment resulted in drops or withdrawals, and regardless of whether a degree was completed. No transcript issued to a student will be accepted.

Electronic transcripts are preferred, and can be emailed to admissions@hcu.edu. If electronic submission is not available, hardcopy transcripts can be accepted. If needed, applicants can use the Transcript Request Form to request hardcopy transcripts.

Letter of Recommendation

The applicant must submit 3 Letters of Recommendation. From within the application for admission, the applicant will email a Letter of Recommendation form to their 3 recommenders. A personal recommender can be any adult, not related to the applicant by blood or marriage, who has known the applicant for three or more years. HCU prefers that your recommenders include a minister, church elder or leader, a school official, or a business person. Recommendations from relatives will not be accepted.

Background Check

All applicants seeking admission to Heritage Christian University will be required to authorize HCU and its agents/representatives to obtain a comprehensive review of their background. HCU will not complete the application review for acceptance until the background check information is received and deemed acceptable.
