Wayne Kilpatrick was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He is married to the former Brenda Elaine Chaney. They adopted their first son, Christopher Wayne in 1979 and their second son, Charles Alexander, in 1981.
He was graduated from Loretta High School in 1962 and from 1962 to 1965 attended the University of North Alabama. He was graduated from Heritage Christian University in 1974. Wayne received a M.A.R. from Harding University in 1981. His major was church history with minors in Old and New Testament studies.
He and Brenda moved to England and did mission work there in 1974 and 1975. He has worked in campaigns in England and Wales since 1978. He has worked with the Littleville Church of Christ and was preaching for the Central Heights church but resigned this work in order to work full time with Heritage Christian University. Wayne began teaching at Heritage Christian in 1976. He has taught world history, church history, restoration history, Bible geography, Bible archaeology, and several textual studies.
Wayne has published articles in the World Evangelist and the Journal of Muscle Shoals History. He has four chapters in Trials and Tears, a book on Kentucky preachers. He has lectured at Freed-Hardeman University and Faulkner University as well as several historical society programs. He continues to lecture at various congregations in the southeast on church history. He holds membership in the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, the Biblical Archaeological Society, and the Muscle Shoals Historical Society.
Wayne has a great love for books and has a personal collection of almost 24,000 volumes. His library contains many rare volumes. Besides books, Wayne loves to play the banjo and guitar and has played for many functions. He continues to participate in community service projects.
