Preparing Effective Gospel Communicators
Heritage Christian University’s mission to prepare effective communicators of the gospel is built on the premise that experience is often the best teacher. An integral part of the education of every student is receiving practical experience while pursuing academic excellence. For each semester of full-time enrollment, all degree-seeking students devote at least two hours per week to a Christian ministry, as well as participate in a university-led campaign.Throughout each semester, students document their Christian ministry, while professors offer advice and encouragement. At HCU students have the opportunity to participate in both international and domestic campaigns. Traditionally, most of these evangelistic efforts have featured “door knocking,” accompanied by a gospel meeting. Many now focus on “targeted evangelism,” with students conducting Bible studies that have been set up by local Christians. Campaign results almost always include baptisms, restorations, and prayer requests. The campaigns also lift the spirit of the local Christians and offer opportunities for developing lifelong friendships.
Heritage Christian University believes that world evangelism is possible. It is our central focus, rooted in our heritage and is our vision for the future. Students come to know the thrill of evangelism, while they serve in various ministries. They study with evangelism in mind, learning how to effectively share the gospel with the world, no matter where they choose to work.
