HCU News for July 2, 2012
Heritage Christian University News 7.2.12
T.I.T.U.S. Camp is almost here! July 8-15 will be an outstanding time of growth and fellowship. Keep praying for leaders, counselors, and campers.
Keep in your daily prayers: David Arny, Bob Bauman, David Blackwell, Eden Burleson, Austin and Betty Davenport, Jerry Davidson, Julie Frederick (daughter of John and Kathy Lawson), Sara Goldman, Randy Imel, Melanie Irions, Faye Johnson (Corandle’s wife), Lori Kashorek, Clara Credit-Kemp. Hobert May, Martha Polk, Ralph Richardson, Avery Shappley (daughter of board member Robert Shappley), Gail Stevenson, and Shirley Trousdale (grandmother of Ashley Hudson).
Congratulations to Phillip and Debbie May. Their granddaughter Emma Mauldin was baptized at Maywood Christian Camp last week. Debbie is a member of the HCU Board of Directors. Some eight were baptized during that week of camp.
Pardon our progress. If you visit the Overton Memorial Library this week, you will find us in the midst of major reorganization. Thanks to Brad McKinnon, Nathan Daily, and Pat Moon for their help in this project. We’re integrating the bound journals into the collection to enhance efficiency of shelving. Also, we’ve been blessed with excellent growth in the collection.
Thought for the week: We find the challenge of Malachi 3:10 amazing. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” We reject the false guarantees of the “health and wealth gospel.” At the same time, we celebrate the magnanimous and abundant generosity of our God. So often He gives us priceless blessings that no amount of money could buy (Proverbs 22:1 & 31:10, Luke 12:16-21, 1 Peter 1:17-19).
HCU will be closed on Wednesday July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
