HCU News for January 3, 2012
Happy New Year! Classes begin this morning at HCU. We’re welcoming new faces and new opportunities. One of the nicest aspects of university life is the chance to start over two or three times a year, benefitting from experience and enhancing our service to God.
We express our sympathy to the family of Jack Stephenson who passed away over the weekend. Jack was a devoted, encouraging supporter of Heritage Christian University and many other fine works. He will be greatly missed.
Robin Barrier begins her new role as Assistant to the President today. Thank you for the help you will extend to her as she shoulders this new responsibility.
BIG REMINDER: Class meetings for “The Writings of C.S. Lewis” will begin January 12th. However, there are readings to be completed in advance of the first class.
C. Wayne Kilpatrick will teach in the Dominican Republic January 16-23. He will work with evangelists trained by his friend Gabino Ricco.
Reminder: Chapel is 9:30 to 10:00 each morning Tuesday through Friday in the McMeans Reading Area of the Overton Memorial Library. Guests are always welcome.
Please keep in your daily prayers: David Arny, David Blackwell, Austin and Betty Davenport, Jerry Davidson, Sara Goldman, Gail Stevenson, and Mechelle Thompson.
Thought for the week: One of the most remembered teachings of Jesus is recorded in Luke 20:25, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” The Psalmist asks a question that bears on this verse, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” (116:12). It will bless you to read the answers given in Psalm 116:13-14 and to search the Scriptures for still more insight.
