friends-of-oml

Friends of the Overton Memorial Library is an organization that fosters contact between the library and those interested in its collections, history, current activities, and future development.

The principal aims are to raise funds for the purchase and conservation of significant additions to the library’s collections and to increase the impact of the Overton Memorial Library within our community.

In an effort to offer a broad-based program of services to the Library, the Friends of the Overton Memorial Library:

  • Sponsors a Gift and Memorials Program that provides the library purchasing power beyond its university allocations.
  • Provides equipment and other resources to improve the facility.
  • Publicizes the library’s resources and services.
  • Keeps donors informed of acquisitions and activities through the Bookworm, the Friends of the Overton Memorial Library newsletter.
  • Sponsors periodic programs for the community such as lectures, literary discussion groups, book sales, and book signings.
  • Organizes special fundraising events benefiting the library’s endowments and programs.

Friends of the Overton Memorial Library Used Bookstore contains books, CDs, and magazines, and surplus items that have been donated to the Overton Memorial Library. Books in the bookstore include those that have been published by Heritage Press and books by authors related to Heritage Christian University. Surplus items are those items that have been donated but are not needed for the library’s collection.

Funds from sales of materials in the Used Bookstore provide funds for books needed to enhance the OML collection. Prices for new books and sets of books vary. Used hardcovers sell for $5 and used paperbacks for $2. The bookstore is open any time OML is open. Checks can be made to FOML Bookstore. Donations of materials are welcome.
