Heritage Christian University exists to contribute to the evangelization of the world, "Real World Ministry", and the building up of the body of Christ by recruiting, training, and encouraging communicators of the gospel. The graduate program helps achieve this goal by building on the foundation laid in the undergraduate program.

Master's Degree

  • A 36-hour non-thesis program designed to prepare students for more effective ministry.
  • A core curriculum consisting of 24 hours in foundational studies in Bible, doctrine, and ministry.
  • A concentration of 12 hours to prepare for more specialized service in the Kingdom of God
  • Master of Ministry with Counseling and Ministry concentrations has no Biblical language requirements and concludes with a practicum.
  • Master of Arts with New Testament and Greek concentrations concludes with a major Research Paper. For an example of the type paper accepted, read THE USE OF THE PRESENT TENSE IN MATTHEW 19:9, a paper submitted to Dr. James Smeal by Coy D. Roper in fulfillment of the requirements for the course Greek 59X - Guided Research in Greek.

A prospective student who has a Bachelor's Degree in another field may gain admission to the program in one of two ways: (a) By receiving the B.A. from Heritage July 8, 2007 8:05 PMsp">A.C.E. (a 33-hour program leading to a second degree in Bible) and then applying for entrance to the graduate program. (b) By entering the graduate program under the conditional acceptance provision (see below) and taking the required undergraduate courses as leveling work. The specific leveling courses required will be determined in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies.

Prerequisites

In general, the Graduate Faculty wants to assure that the students admitted to the graduate program are capable of benefiting from it. For this reason, the following prerequisites have been established for admission to the graduate program at Heritage Christian University:

(1) A Bachelor's Degree in Bible from an accredited college or university, with an undergraduate major in Bible, including 18 upper division hours.
(2) A grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale). With less, the student can be accepted on probation. Probation can be removed after the student completes 12 hours with a 3.00 GPA.
(3) Taking the Millers Analogy Test* within the past ten years. If the student has taken the GRE within the last ten years or has a terminal degree from an accredited university, this requirement can be waived. No minimum score is required for entrance into the program.
(4) A completed application, including three positive recommendations as to the applicant's ability to do graduate work and his/her good character, along with a statement in the applicant's own handwriting concerning his/her plans, reasons for doing graduate work, etc.
(5) With the application, the prospective student must include a non refundable fee of $25.00.
