SECH has an opening for houseparents to live in a cottage on the 50-acre campus and care for 7 adolescent children. Both husband and wife are employed by SECH. In addition, the agency provides 50% of the family membership rate to the local YMCA, which allows for indoor exercise and swimming year-round.
Seeking ministry-minded Christian couples with strong marriages and team spirits. To learn more about Southeastern, go to www.sech.org.
Our preacher of 23 years passed unexpectedly. He was a gentle and active man, known and liked through our rural community of 1,500. He loved people and liked to attend community events. He loved working with individuals, teaching Jesus and obedience to the gospel. We are looking for someone with his attributes. We found and loved a young preacher who we hoped would be with us a long, long time. However, he had a childhood dream which he could no longer ignore and is now pursuing that dream, serving in a different way.
And so, we are looking again. We continue seeking a good match between our new preacher (hopefully with family) and us.
Our part of the country:
People from a city background may not be content in our area. We are located on a good north/south highway. Rolla, MO is 33 miles to the north on I-44. It has a population of about 20,000. It is home to a major university and a variety of medical facilities, to include a large hospital. It is located about 100 miles from Springfield, MO to the west and 100 miles from St. Louis to the east. Ft. Leonard Wood is about 25 miles to the west. People who like a quiet, gentle lifestyle; country folks; and rivers and forests would like our area. People who thrive on malls, sporting arenas, etc. would likely not like what our area has to offer.
We are hoping to find a preacher who has the youth and the other qualities necessary to be with us for a long, long time. An unattached man who goes home to an empty house every day can be a lonely man. That is discouraging and can contribute to an early departure.
Background and doctrine:
Ideally, we are looking for a man with preaching experience and a degree from an accredited, conservative Church of Christ university. Naturally, personal qualities, other training, and general life experiences will be strongly considered. His doctrine must reflect New Testament teachings. He will be expected to preach and teach the full gospel as contained therein.
Our congregation has existed since the early 1900s. It represents a wide range of socio-economic and educational levels. Most of our folks are 50-and-over, but we have a solid group of younger families that will take the church into the future. Our members are regular rural people—caring, humble, hard-workers, dedicated to God, church, family, and neighbor. We have no elders; that fact may be related to one of our basic qualities: humility. Currently, however, some of our younger family men desire the position, but do not have children old enough to qualify them. Our average Sunday morning attendance currently is 70-80. Not having a full-time preacher takes a toll on attendance. We believe our services are like you would find in most Churches of Christ in the mid-1900s.
Building and finances: Our building is on the main street of Licking. The auditorium will seat around 200. We have classrooms, a kitchen, and a fellowship hall. Like our attendance, our contributions have suffered during our time without a preacher, but our financial situation is rock-solid.
Size of Congregation: Current attendance, 70-80

Youth & Family Minister
The University Church of Christ in Abilene, TX is prayerfully seeking a full-time youth minister: a man to mentor, teach and guide our middle and high school students as they grow in Christ.
A youth minister is arguably the highest valued minister on a church staff, because they are leading the demographic that is first forming their Faith.
The statistics about young Christians leaving the church as they enter their 20’s are disheartening, and we believe proactive youth ministry plays a crucial role in developing a deep Faith in teens. In addition, we believe youth ministry should reach beyond classes and living rooms and equip our teens to live the calling of Jesus in the present.
