Curriculum Vitae
Jeremy is an Assistant Professor of Biblical Literature and the Director of Missions for Heritage Christian University teaching both in the undergraduate and graduate programs. He also serves as the Dean of Men for the Department of Student Affairs. He is married to Robin Nichole (Samuels) Barrier, and they have two children, Samuel and Sophia. Currently, Jeremy and Robin are involved in fulltime mission activities, under the leadership of the North Carolina Church of Christ, in taking the Good News of Jesus to Asia. He is involved in the advancement of Christianity in India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, and several other locations.
Jeremy holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Natural Science from Freed-Hardeman University (2000); an M.A. in New Testament from Freed-Hardeman University (2002); one year of graduate biblical studies at the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University (2003); and he completed his Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation from Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University.
Some of Jeremy’s research interests include the Pauline Epistles (especially 1 and 2 Corinthians), second century ancient Christian novels (such as the Acts of Paul and Thecla), and Coptology. Jeremy is an active member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion.
