Prerequisites
In general, the Graduate Faculty wants to assure that the students admitted to the Graduate School are capable of benefiting from it. For this reason, the following prerequisites have been established for admission to the Graduate School at Heritage Christian University:• A transcript showing an earned Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university with accreditation deemed satisfactory by the Graduate Committee. No particular undergraduate major is required, though some undergraduate leveling classes may be deemed necessary depending on undergraduate course work. This will be determined in consultation with the Graduate Committee.
• A grade point average of 2.50 or higher (on a 4.00 scale). With less, the student can be accepted on academic probation (see Graduate Catalog). Academic probation will be removed after the student completes 6 hours with a 3.00 GPA.
• A completed application, including three positive recommendations as to the applicant's ability to do graduate work and his/her good character, along with a statement in the applicant's own handwriting concerning his/her plans and reasons for doing graduate work, etc.
• For the MA and MMin only, each applicant will submit official scores from either the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) with a minimum total score of 800 or official 14 scores from the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) with a minimum score of 40.
• With the application, the prospective student must include a nonrefundable application fee of $25.00.
• Some level of computer literacy is required for students in the graduate program. This is an essential part of becoming a leader and all of our classes incorporate varying degrees of participation by means of online interaction between students and instructors.
No student will be admitted to the Graduate Program until all prerequisites are satisfied or the student is granted conditional acceptance. Notification of the prospective student’s admission status will be sent after all the above prerequisites have been received and reviewed.
